Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

Rooted in the holistic principles of Chinese Medicine, facial acupuncture can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve muscle tone, and give the complexion a more radiant glow.

Treatments include applying needles to the body to address underlying imbalances, facial points to relax tension and stimulate collagen and elastin production, intradermal needles for targeted treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, and facial massage or gua sha to promote healthy lymphatic flow.

In addition to its cosmetic benefits, facial acupuncture is also used for the treatment of Bell's palsy, TMJ, and migraines. Facial acupuncture is considered a safe, minimally invasive treatment that promotes radiance from the inside out.

What is LED light therapy?

Light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light energy to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits.

The energy delivered is then used to improve cellular performance.

The treatment is non-invasive, painless, requires no recovery time, and can be used safely on all skin types.

How it Works

In the same way that plants use chlorophyll to convert sunlight into energy, high intensity light emitting diodes (LEDs) utilizing specific, proven wavelengths of light can trigger a natural biostimulatory effect in human tissue. Research has shown that LED light therapy can increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone, texture and clarity, decrease under eye wrinkles as well as ease muscle and joint pain, stiffness, spasm, and pain associated with arthritis.

Research indicates that cells absorb particles of light (photons) and transform their energy into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the form of energy that cells utilize. The resulting elevation of ATP is then used to power metabolic processes; synthesize DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, and other products needed to repair or regenerate cell components; foster mitosis or cell proliferation; and restore homeostasis. Simply put, the LED light source provides compromised cells with added energy so the cells performance is enhanced. For example, fibroblast cells will increase collagen and elastin production in connective tissue to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and increase the rate of wound healing.

LED Light Therapy Helps With

  • Full face wrinkles

  • Inflammatory acne vulgaris

  • Increase local blood circulation

  • A course of treatment consists of 10-15 treatments administered once or twice a week (1-2 treatments/week for 5-10 weeks) though everyone is different.

  • It is recommended to allow at least one day between treatments

  • To get longer lasting results you can continue coming regularly or 1-2 times per month

Is facial acupuncture safe during pregnancy?

  • We do not recommend facial acupuncture during the first trimester of pregnancy. Your general acupuncture treatments will help support Qi and blood circulation to your womb as the pregnancy is established.

  • During the 2nd and 3rd trimesters a modified facial treatment - fewer facial needles, face/neck massage/acupressure instead of gua sha, no red LED light is considered safe during pregnancy

Can I do facial acupuncture if I have Botox and fillers?

  • Facial acupuncture may speed up the metabolism of botox. Please let us know if you’ve recently had Botox, have any facial fillers, or have had facial cosmetic surgery. You can still receive facial acupuncture treatments and your acupuncturist will work around these areas.
